DIAGNODENT

DEFINITION
Diagnodent is a non-invasive, painless tool used for detecting tooth decay that is not yet visible and would otherwise be undiagnosed by conventional methods alone.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
iT works by scanning your teeth to measure fluorescence within your tooth structure.
Healthy teeth will have little or no fluorescence.
Amount of fluorescence is proportional to the amount of tooth decay.
changes in fluorescence and numeric value are emitted as an audio signal which indicates the presence of decay as it goes up in tone.

advantages
effective than the conventional method
uses light energy and do not X-rays.
Improved diagnostic ability in the fissure (groove) areas
Even the most minute problems are detected at a very early stage
Minimally invasive therapy permits small adhesive bonded restorations of good appearance with tooth-colored composites
Appropriate preventive therapy
Healthy tooth substance is preserved
Increased quality of work due to optimum precision

design
it is in the shape of a pen
there is a handpiece with a reattachable probe which emits light
small ,runs on batteries
digital read out of numbers.
